Telltale games start to disappear from sale as shutdown begins

It has been a tumultuous couple of months for Telltale Games. The studio announced that it would be shutting down back in September, putting the final season of The Walking Dead in jeopardy. At this point, most of the studio's former developers have moved on and now, the company has begun shutting down, with several games disappearing from digital stores.

As GameDaily reports, a company known as Sherwood Partners is handling Telltale's liquidation. The liquidation also means that any employees left over at Telltale Games will have their healthcare benefits stopped on the 30th of November.

As part of the shutdown, a few games from Telltale's back catalogue are being removed from sale. This includes Back to the Future and Tales of Monkey Island. At the moment, most of Telltale's popular games are still for sale, although we'll likely see these delisted eventually too once rights start to lapse.

At this point, The Walking Dead: Final Season has been handed off to another studio, so that will hopefully be finished in early 2019. In the meantime, those remaining at Telltale will be wrapping up Minecraft: Story Mode for Netflix. After that, Telltale will cease to exist.

KitGuru Says: Telltale had plenty of success but it also had its share of struggles. Money was evidently mismanaged at points and sales expectations were too high for some titles. What was the last Telltale game you played?
