Skybound Games lock in release date for Episode 3 of The Walking Dead: The Final Season

The Walking Dead hasn’t fared well in the video game industry as of late, with publisher Starbreeze Studios suffering after developer Overkill’s efforts fail to grab the attention of the market. Fortuntely, Skybound Games is making headway with Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which now has a confirmed release date for episode 3.

Skybound Games got its hands on the troubled series at the beginning of October, promising to finish The Final Season with as many of the original developers as possible. Originally pegged for launch this year, it looks as though the tumultuous negotiations behind the scenes have delayed things until next year, but the long-awaited third episode will finally land on storefronts in mid-January.

“We’re excited to share that episode three of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season is coming to all platforms on January 15, 2019,” reads a blog post from Skybound's Johnny O'Dell. “Check out the teaser for Episode 3: Broken Toys below. We’re extremely thankful to the team working on this game to make sure the season is finished with the quality the game and the fans deserve. We are #stillnotbitten.”

“You may have noticed that all past seasons and episodes of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season are back up on *almost* all platforms. If you purchased any of the games on PC, we are still getting that sorted and will have an update for you ahead of Broken Toys' launch. If you already purchased the entire season of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season, you will still have access to episodes three and four on whichever platform you already used to purchase them,” concludes the post.

The trailer reflects on Clementine’s journey so far, from the people she’s left behind to those that still depend on her. The end of the teaser shows that Seasons 1-4 are still available on consoles, while the Steam Store remains absent. The Final Season can be found with a downloadable demo, however this similarly cannot be purchased currently. It is unknown when this will be rectified.

KitGuru Says: All in all, I think Skybound Games has worked miracles to bring Telltale’s The Walking Dead back to life. Are you excited for Episode 3: Broken Toys?
