Nvidia RTX support added to Battlefield V

Now that the Windows 1809 update is finally rolling out once again, developers can start to implement the DXR API in their games. This is an important step for Nvidia users in particular, as the new RTX graphics cards require this update to make use of raytracing. There are two big games this year set to support the new technology- Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Battlefield V. Those picking up DICE's shooter will have access to RTX starting from today.

EA-DICE producer, Jaqub Ajmal, announced earlier today that RTX support has now rolled out to Battlefield V. The game is currently playable if you have an Origin Access membership or if you buy one of the more expensive versions of the game. Standard edition players will need to wait until tomorrow, the 15th of November, to pick the game up.

Nvidia RTX will now appear as an option in the graphics settings for Battlefield V. There are several quality modes you can choose from ranging from ‘low' to ‘ultra', so you can choose to balance performance and visuals. We don't know how well Nvidia's new RTX GPUs will perform under these settings just yet, but don't expect to be getting particularly high frame rates using the ultra setting, which will be particularly demanding.

Those looking to make use of the RTX option will also need to be sure to update their graphics drivers. Nvidia began rolling out the 416.94 WHQL driver last night, so once that is installed, alongside the Windows 10 1809 update, you should be good to go.

KitGuru Says: There is still no word on when Shadow of the Tomb Raider will get the RTX update, but at least we can finally start diving into raytracing performance with Battlefield V. Do any of you already have an RTX graphics card? Have you had the chance to try out RTX on Battlefield V yet?
