Samsung Galaxy S10 mega leak suggests phone sizes and pricing

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 range has received a series of leaks in the run-up to its reveal early next year, but it seems as though the South Korean firm has managed to keep a lid on some details. That is until inside sources have revealed the rest in a mega-leak.

Codenamed “Beyond” behind the scenes, anonymous inside sources have confirmed to Gizmodo that Samsung will release three variants of the Galaxy S10 instead of the previously purported four. This will consist of a regular, Plus and “flat” version which avoids the trending curved screen popularised by the company.

The flat version is expected to be the previously reported Lite model, coming with a 5.8-inch screen and 128GB of storage. As the mid-range offering, this is expected to cost £669 here in the UK, with international pricing yet to be speculated.

The regular Galaxy S10 is set to push a 6.1-inch curved display, with options of 128GB or 512GB of storage. This will cost approximately £799 and £999 respectively, according to the publication's sources.

Samsung's flagship Galaxy S10 Plus matches top-of-the-line competition with a 6.4-inch curved screen. As previous reports have suggested, this is believed to come in either 128GB, 512GB or 1TB built-in storage. None of these versions come cheap, supposedly costing £899, £1,099 and £1,399 respectively.

All variants are said to run Samsung's newly launched Infinity-O displays with a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, first seen on Huawei's Nova 4 and Samsung's Galaxy A8s. While this allows the company to narrowly avoid the divisive notch, the cutout will vary in size depending on how many selfie cameras are housed on the Plus model.

Following in the footsteps of the critically acclaimed Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the Galaxy S10 range is said to be able to wirelessly charge other devices. Dubbed “Powershare,” it remains to be seen whether this will be better received than the slow Reverse Wireless Charging on its Chinese rival.

At least one of the Galaxy S10 models will also house an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner located underneath the display. There is no word on facial scanning technology, although it has been confirmed that Iris scanners won't be seen on any of the devices.

Memory and processor also remain unknown for the time being, although speculation points towards the Galaxy S10 Plus housing Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855 in the US. Exynos chips are usually seen in other territories. 5G remains on the cards, however the sources have stated that it will not be seen at launch, instead arriving at some point later in the year. This shouldn't prove too much of a problem, given that 5G is still in development.

We will reportedly be able to verify these claims on February 20, 2019 at the latest, which is the date sources attribute to pre-orders. In the meantime, it's definitely worth taking this information with a pinch of salt.
