Samsung could pack 6 cameras into its flagship Galaxy S10

Samsung unveiled its powerful 8nm Exynos 9820 last week, which we know will headline at least one of the many Galaxy S10 models the firm has in the works. Much still remains unconfirmed about the devices, but the latest report suggests that Samsung’s top-tier flagship is set to feature a bigger screen than the Note 9 and an unprecedented total of 6 cameras.

Out of the supposed four devices currently in development, inside sources told the Wall Street Journal that the high-end smartphone is set to feature a 6.7-inch bezel-less screen, a jump from the Note 9's 6.4-inch display. Currently codenamed ‘Beyond X’ behind the scenes, this is the variant that will reportedly house 5G support, a dual front-facing camera setup and four lenses on the rear. It is currently uncertain how this will pair up with rumours of Samsung forgoing the notch once again in favour of an embedded camera setup.

There is set to be a greater disparity between these four models in comparison to previous releases, as the remaining three are likely to target those looking for smaller 5 to 5.4-inch screens. Given that cameras will supposedly range between 3 and 5 in total, it’s reasonable to believe that the cheapest Galaxy S10 will feature a dual rear-lens setup, although Samsung could market the handset towards the selfie market with a dual front-facing camera instead.

Samsung is expected to unveil the range of devices during Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February, although there has been some discrepancy in rumours of release dates. It’s possible that the firm could stagger the release of different tier Galaxy S10 smartphones depending on various factors, such as the availability of 5G.

Of course, a pinch of salt is required until Samsung officially reveals more about the mysterious handsets.
