Samsung Galaxy S10 renders look stunning, but benchmarks fail to top iPhone

Rumours and leaks are coming in full force for the Galaxy S10, as Samsung’s flagship is just a couple of months away from its expected debut. If accurate, these renders showcase one of the four upcoming models with a near bezel-less aesthetic. As good as the potential device looks, it still fails to impress in reported benchmarks as Apple's latest still maintains the lead.

The renders come courtesy of ConceptCreator, as is the featured image, visualising all of the rumours that have come to light so far. While the cheaper Galaxy S10 is said to house a flat screen, the remaining, more expensive models are expected to continue using Samsung’s curved panels similar to its predecessors. As seen in the video, the Galaxy S10 range is believed to debut in five different colours including Green, Blue, Pink, Silver and Black.

The centrepiece of the video is the reported Galaxy S10 Plus, rumoured to sport a 6.44-inch Infinity-O display and a horizontal triple rear camera setup. This is said to be comprised of the same 12MP f/1.5-2.4 variable aperture lens seen on the Galaxy S9, as well as a 16MP super-wide angle 123-degree sensor and a 13MP telephoto lens. At the end of the video, the smaller Galaxy S10 can be seen with its 5.8-inch screen, although its alleged dual-lens configuration has been omitted. Two more models are expected to complete the line-up – the mid-range budget variant and the potential premium model that adds a fourth rear lens into the mix.

Although Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 855 appears in the video, Samsung’s announced Exynos 9820 has been doing the rounds on AnTuTu benchmarks. Despite pushing impressive figures during its unveiling, first impressions are a mixed bag as the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus believed to house the SoC beats out Android competition while falling short to the iPhone XS Max.

Serial leaker Ice Universe states that the flagship smartphone scored 325,076 on the platform, beating out Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro with a score of 309,628. All of Apple’s latest range sits higher, with the iPhone XR maintaining the lowest score of the trio at 334,365.
