Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is enjoying roaring success across the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but there’s still no sign of the game appearing on the Nintendo Switch. According to developer Toys For Bob’s Peter Kavic, development might not even be under way.
Activision’s push on nostalgia brought Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy to multiple platforms, starting out with PlayStation 4, and coming to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC a year later. The official website for Spyro: Reignited Trilogy listed the same platforms, with Nintendo Switch and PC expected to be just on the horizon.
Sadly, producer Peter Kavic revealed on the Game Informer Show last month that all of Toys For Bob’s focus has been on the PS4 and Xbox One, claiming that bringing the game to other platforms is “Activision stuff that we aren't as privy to”. Furthermore, when asked whether the game would run on the Nintendo Switch, Kavic stated that he has “yet to even see it tried, but maybe”.
This follows Activision’s official response last month, claiming that the firm had no plans for the title on other platforms just yet. Of course, this could simply be the usual run-of-the-mill corporate statement, but with such uncertainty in the air, Spyro’s future on the hybrid handheld seems to be in question.
KitGuru Says: Personally, I think the Reignited Trilogy would sell fairly well on all platforms, but it would particularly be enjoyable on-the-go with its condensed level-based worlds. Would you like to see Spyro glide onto the Switch?
