CES 2019: Corsair debuts Slipstream wireless technology with three new gaming mice

Last night during a conference at CES 2019, CORSAIR launched three brand new wireless gaming mice, complete with all-new Slipstream wireless technology. The addition of Slipstream means that multiple wireless peripherals can be connected via one dongle, with lower latency and instant response times.

The three mice to debut Slipstream are the Harpoon RGB Wireless, the Ironclaw RGB and the M65 RGB Elite. We've already had the chance to review both the Harpoon Wireless and the Ironclaw RGB, both of which earned our ‘WORTH BUYING' award.

In terms of tech, Slipstream uses frequency hopping WiFi that can allow multiple peripherals to be connected at once on a single dongle. So if you were to pick up a compatible mouse and keyboard, you would just need the single dongle to use both. Response times are still kept below 1ms, so it won't interfere or impact performance. Slipstream is debuting in three mice to start off with, but eventually it will be used in mice, keyboards and headsets.

The Harpoon RGB Wireless weighs in at just 99g, making it an incredibly light mouse that can be used in both wired and wireless form. The optical sensor comes with a maximum of 10,000 DPI, meanwhile the internal battery is rated to offer up to 60 hours of life on a single charge. Of course, all lighting and macros can be adjusted via the Corsair iCUE software, which has received some excellent improvements over the last year.

The Ironclaw RGB is different in a couple of ways. Aside from having a different overall shape (for claw grip), this mouse also uses Corsair's most advanced optical sensor yet. It is a custom version of the Pixart PMW3391, offering sensitivity adjustments in 1 DPI steps, all the way up to 18,000 DPI, so you can fine tune sensitivity to your liking. It is a little heavier than the Harpoon though, weighing in at 105g.

Finally, the M65 RGB Elite rounds out the Slipstream Wireless launch lineup. The M65 has seen a number of iterations over the years and is considered by many to be Corsair's flagship mouse. This time around, we see the same sensor as the one found in the Ironclaw RGB, in addition to a ‘base weight' reduction, so if you take the mini weights out of the mouse, it can be as light as 97g, or increased to 115g. This mouse also comes equipped with OMRON switches, which are highly regarded for their reliability and clicky feel.

Exact pricing and availability information is still to be determined. However, we know that the Ironclaw RGB and Harpoon Wireless will be available in the coming weeks. The M65 RGB Elite shouldn't be too far behind.

KitGuru Says: CORSAIR has always had a solid peripheral lineup and things seem to only be improving. Are any of you looking to switch to a wireless mouse? What do you think of Corsair's latest offerings?
