Deep Silver is set to launch Metro Exodus a week earlier

Metro fans haven’t had it easy lately, from reports of the movie adaptation failing to the upcoming video game sequel being delayed. Finally, in what seems like a turn of good fortune, publisher Deep Silver has revealed that Metro Exodus has now gone gold, bringing its release date forward by a whole week.

During The Game Awards 2017, developer 4A Games released a trailer that hinted towards the release date of Metro Exodus. The official launch window was down as “Autumn 2018”, but pausing the teaser at just the right time revealed a more specific “Aug 8th” date. Unfortunately, this didn’t stick as 4A Games revealed it needed more time to work on the sequel, resulting in a vague ‘Q1 2019’ replacement window.

Celebrating the milestone of going gold, the developer has posted Metro Exodus’ title sequence, made by Elastic.tv. These are the same hands that crafted “some of the most iconic title sequences of recent years including Game of Thrones and Westworld,” and Metro is no different. The beautiful opening explores the harsh nuclear winter, with soldiers and animals frozen in place as blood red splashes against the neutral, white background.

Metro Exodus is available to pre-order now, and will begin shipping a week earlier for a February 15, 2019 launch. The official site also hints that more trailers will be released on its YouTube channel in the run-up to release.

KitGuru Says: Having missed out on the Metro series of video games, I’m excited to go back and explore Metro 2033 and Last Light in time for Exodus. Are you happy to see that the release date has been brought forward?
