Xbox Cloud Gaming finally adds mouse and keyboard support

Since launch, Xbox Cloud Gaming has only supported controllers for playing games. However, for those on PC, many prefer using a keyboard and mouse for speedier response times. Now, Microsoft is finally bringing mouse and keyboard support to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Mouse and Keyboard support is available to those in the Xbox Insider program as of this week. On PC, you'll be able to use your keyboard and mouse to play games on xCloud either through a web browser or through the Xbox App.

The first batch of games to support this includes:

  • Fortnite (browser only)
  • ARK Survival Evolved
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Grounded
  • Halo Infinite
  • Atomic Heart
  • Sniper Elite 5
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • High on Life
  • Zombie Army 4 Dead War
  • Gears Tactics
  • Pentiment
  • Doom 64
  • Age of Empires 2

If you are streaming xCloud titles via a browser, you'll need to put your browser into full screen mode, otherwise there could be issues recognising the mouse pointer as input.

KitGuru Says: This is a good step, although from what I understand, you'll still be playing the Xbox versions of these games via streaming and not the PC version, which puts some limitations on the frame rates and graphical settings you can choose. Input delay may also feel more noticeable with a mouse and keyboard, although I must admit, having used Xbox Cloud Gaming quite a bit across devices, I've always found it to be quite responsive.
