Octopath Traveler returns to Nintendo eShop after six-week disappearance

In early March, Octopath Traveler mysteriously disappeared from the Nintendo eShop. Given that the game began life as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, its removal did not go unnoticed. Now roughly six weeks later, the game has finally returned.

Octopath Traveler is now available once again through the Nintendo Switch eShop. If you had owned the game previously, you could still download and play the game, but with it being delisted, no newcomers could pick the game up digitally. With the game's reinstatement on the eShop, gamers are free to grab it once again.

Octopath Traveler quickly became one of my favourite JRPGs back when it first released in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch. The game remains popular to this day, spawning a mobile spin-off and a full sequel, which released just last year.

Square Enix has not explained exactly why the game was delisted in the first place. However, it was noted previously that the publishing rights for the Switch version of the game changed hands in December 2023. Chances are, this temporary removal of the game is tied to that.

KitGuru Says: Octopath Traveler is one of the best RPGs on Switch, especially for those who are fans of old-school turn-based Japanese games.
