Ghost of Tsushima is the first PC game to feature PlayStation Overlay and Trophies

After much waiting from fans, Ghost of Tsushima is finally making the jump from PlayStation to PC. The PC version of the Director's Cut is launching in just a few weeks time, complete with the base game, the Iki Island expansion and the Legends multiplayer mode. The team at Nixxes appears to be using this game to lay the groundwork for a more cohesive PlayStation-PC experience, with features like cross-play and even support for Trophies.

Many of PlayStation's PC games so far have been well received, in large part due to their performance and feature support. Now, starting with Ghost of Tsushima, PlayStation's PC titles will include Trophies, the PlayStation equivalent to in-game achievements. Logging in with your PSN account will allow you to earn new trophies, and access features like cross-play, so you can jump into Ghost of Tsushima's Legends mode with PS4 and PS5 players.

To cap all of this off, Ghost of Tsushima will also be the first game to feature the new PlayStation Overlay, which will grant quick and easy access to features like your Friends list, Trophies, Profile and other settings. This appears to be part of Sony's effort to push further into the PC market. Like Microsoft and the Xbox team, Sony looks to be treating PC as an extension of PlayStation at this stage, rather than a competing platform.

Ghost of Tsushima has been brought to PC by the expert PC porters at Nixxes. The studio joined PlayStation Studios a couple of years ago expressly for this purpose and it is nice to see more of that work coming to the forefront with the PlayStation Overlay and cross-platform features.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut launches on Steam on the 16th of May. You can find the game's PC system requirements HERE.

KitGuru Says: Importantly, Sony is not pulling away from stores like Steam to push its own launcher. The PlayStation Overlay will be optional, as will signing in with a PSN account, as it has been for Sony's other PlayStation PC titles so far. Are you planning on picking up Ghost of Tsushima for PC next month?
