Thermaltake’s latest mid-tower chase ditches horizontal expansion slots for fans of vertical GPUs

Thermaltake has introduced a new mid-tower PC case to its line-up, the S250 TG ARGB. Available in black and white, this case features only vertical expansion slots and can accommodate 420mm radiators.

The front features a mesh intake, and it comes with three pre-installed 120mm ARGB-illuminated fans that can be swapped out for a larger 420mm radiator or 140mm fans. On the right side of the motherboard tray, you'll find two 120mm fan mounts pointing towards a perforated side panel where you can install an additional 240mm radiator. The top panel features three slots for 120mm fans and can also support a massive 360mm radiator. Lastly, there's a 120mm fan at the rear, where you can also add a 120mm radiator.

The case has a classic horizontally partitioned layout, with the motherboard tray in the top compartment. It supports graphics cards up to 400mm in length (or up to 320mm with a radiator installed) and CPU coolers up to 165mm tall. The PSU bay in the bottom compartment has a clearance of 220mm.

One of the standout features of this case is its ability to turn its seven expansion slots 90 degrees to form vertical slots, allowing you to mount graphics cards as thick as five slots vertically. The drive cage in the bottom compartment can hold up to two 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch drives, with two additional 2.5-inch mounts. The left side panel is made of clear, 4-mm-thick tempered glass to give you an unobstructed view of your build. The front panel features two USB-A 3.2 ports and a 4-pole headset jack. The S250 TG ARGB case is already available at some retailers for around £110/€110.

KitGuru says: Since this case only features vertical expansion slots, it's clear it's not for everybody. However, if you do want to mount your graphics card vertically, it might be a worthwhile solution.
