Leaked images show off the Galaxy S10 and S10+ in full

Over the last few years, Samsung has taken to announcing its flagship Galaxy S phones in February rather than March. This year, Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy S10 and S10+ on the 20th of February, with the devices being less than one month away, we are starting to get some really solid leaks. Today's leak shows off photos of both smartphones in full.

Over at allaboutsamsung.de, images of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ have surfaced, showing off the new design. There is a triple camera setup on the back all in a straight line. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S10 has one front facing camera embedded into the display, the larger S10+ has two front facing cameras, creating a slightly larger hole in the screen to accommodate.

If 2018 was the year of the notch, then it looks like 2019 might be the year of what I'm choosing to call ‘the screen dot'. As you can see, the display still lights up and functions around the camera cut out, which is placed off to the upper right hand corner of the screen.

It does mean that there is more screen space and bezels are reduced even further. However, I do wonder how app developers are going to get around the fact that there will now be a camera sitting in a place where there could have been buttons or other UI elements. It could get more complicated if different phone makers embed their cameras in different places.

Either way, there will be an adjustment period just as we saw when the notch started taking over. I'm sure Samsung will show off some examples of how it works when the announcement comes through.

KitGuru Says: Smartphone designs have finally started getting interesting again over the last couple of years. There are still improvements to be made, but so far, I'm enjoying all of the different methods we are seeing to maximise screen space. It will be interesting to see how it ends up working with apps later down the line.
