Dataminers uncover references to new Apex Legends content

Apex Legends has stormed the gaming world with its sleek action-packed gameplay, amassing a staggering 25 million players in just one week. It stands to reason that Respawn Entertainment has more in store to grow the game, as dataminers have uncovered references to potentially upcoming characters and weapons.

New Legends Octane and Wattson are expected to join the roster.. Octane in particular is said to come with a Stim Pack ability, which many believe will give temporary speed, reload and health boosts much like in Titanfall 2. It remains to be seen whether or not this will be an individual perk or one that can be shared with teammates. Wattson however, will take a more aggressive approach by laying Tesla Traps that catch enemies and cause damage.

There are multiple other names that make an appearance within the data, but none come with additional information like the aforementioned two. These are Crypto, Husaria, Jericho, Nomad, Prophet, Rampart, Rosie, and Skunner.

New weapons are also supposedly on the way, called the Havoc Rifle and L-Star EMG. The Havoc Rifle will carry 25 energy bullets without extra attachments, inflicting 18 damage to the body and double to the head. As expected with its name, the L-Star EMG is an energy-based machine gun with a much larger 60-bullet clip. This will deal 21 damage for body shots and 41 for those that manage to hit the head.

Elsewhere, fans are expressing interest in a Chappie crossover thanks to Legend Pathfinder’s resemblance. Director of the 2015 film Neill Blomkamp and Respawn CEO Vince Zampella have both expressed their interest in making this happen, but they would need the approval of Columbia Pictures before moving forward.

There’s no sign as to when the datamined content could land, and could be subject to change prior to launch. For now, the community should take things with a pinch of salt while continuing to voice which direction they want the game to go on social media. Respawn certainly seems to be listening.

KitGuru Says: Crossovers certainly aren’t impossible given that Thanos appeared in Fortnite: Battle Royale to promote Infinity War. Still, Chappie’s relevance might make things a little more difficult to get the ball rolling. On the other hand, the datamined content looks like Apex Legends has plenty in sore. What would you like to see come to the game?
