Samsung will ship Galaxy S10 and S10+ with pre-installed screen protector

Last week, Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S10, complete with a newly designed infinity display and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the display. Since this fingerprint scanner won't be compatible with all screen protectors, buyers of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ will find one pre-installed out of the box.

Samsung confirmed that it will be shipping the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus with a pre-installed screen protector that is compatible with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded in the display. Extra screen protectors will be made available through Samsung, although they'll be quite pricey, sitting at $29.99.

Third-party accessory makers are already working on compatible protectors of their own for people who would prefer a tempered glass protector, or something that obscures the phone's screen from an off-angle.

The Galaxy S10E will be the exception here and won't come with its own screen protector installed. This is simply due to the fact that this model does not include a fingerprint scanner in the display, so it will be compatible with any screen protector on the market.

The Galaxy S10, S10 Plus and S10E are all set to begin shipping on the 8th of March, with pre-orders going live on the 5th. Each one starts off with 128GB of storage. The S10E is the cheapest at $749, the S10 jumps up to $899 and the S10 Plus can be had for $999. With that said, the S10 Plus can be upgraded to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, which bumps the price up to $1499.

KitGuru Says: Phone screens can be expensive to replace and they tend to scratch easily over time. With that in mind, including a screen protector out of the box seems like the sort of thing more phone makers should be doing going forward.
