PC Specialist unveils its new range of Nvidia RTX laptops

PC Specialist has launched its new line of Nvidia RTX-powered laptops, all housing a 144Hz display and RGB keyboard. The Recoil II and Octane VI are readily available, while the Proteus VI, Defiance V and Optimus IX will arrive in the near future.

There are many different configurations of the laptops below, with most containing Intel’s 8^th generation mobile processors, storage that can reach transfer speeds of 3,500MB/s thanks to M.2 SSD options and up to 32GB of DDR4 memory at 2400MHz.

Recoil II RTX

The Recoil II RTX retains a lot of the original design, doing away with Nvidia’s 10 series in favour of the brand new RTX 2060 or 2070 options. The 15.6-inch version can be paired with an RTX 2070 Max Q for a thinner profile, reaching a thickness of just 23.5mm when closed. The 17.3-inch Recoil II RTX preserves the same narrow-bezels surrounding the smaller display, but drops the Max Q option for a slightly thicker 27.4mm chassis.

Both versions house a mechanical keyboard, with the 15.6-inch Recoil II RTX starting from £1,339 and the 17.3-inch Recoil II RTX at £1,379.

Octane VI RTX

The Octane VI RTX series is much thicker than other choices, but this allows for a fully-fledged desktop CPU alongside an RTX 2060, 2070 or 2080 graphics card. Of course, with a thickness between 38-41mm and a weight of 3.4-3.9kg, both the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch Octane VI RTX are perhaps better suited to desktop replacements than their more portable brethren.

Customers can grab the 15.6-inch Octane VI RTX starting from £1,349 or its 17.3-inch bigger brother for a little more, at £1,435.

Defiance V RTX

PC Specialist’s Defiance V RTX series is the thinnest choice in the new RTX line-up, managing to cram either an RTX 2060, 2070 Max Q (17.3-inch version only) or a 2080 Max Q within its 19.9mm chassis. There isn’t a confirmed release date for either the unusual 16.1-inch or 17.3-inch versions, but both are expected to arrive in late February alongside the RTX 2070-powered Proteus VI.

The Proteus VI RTX will start at £1,355, while the 17.3-inch Defiance V RTX begins from £1,315. It isn’t quite clear why the 16.1-inch Defiance V RTX has a high starting price of £1,829, but it could be due to the unorthodox display size.

Optimus IX RTX

Little is known about the Optimus IX RTX range, as PC Specialist is currently in the process of confirming a release date and starting price. Considering that both the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch Optimus IX RTX are only paired with an RTX 2060, it looks as though this will target a lower-end market than those outlined above.
