Final Fantasy 16 PC version almost finished and there will be a free demo

Final Fantasy 16 is heading to PC this year. While Square Enix has not given an official release date yet, recent updates from the development team have hinted at the PC version being very far along in development. Now, it seems that a demo might be just around the corner.

Final Fantasy 16 director, Naoki Yoshida, told Destructoid in a recent interview that optimisation work is well underway and that the team is currently nailing down the minimum PC requirements, which will target a PS5-like experience. However, due to the PS5 version setting such a high bar, the PC system requirements are also expected to be on the high side.

“We want to have no breaks in the game. To replicate that on PC, you're going to need a pretty high-spec PC. So right now, what we're doing is we're testing the game, and our current optimization, on a lot of different systems to see, again, what are going to be those minimum specs for playing the game in a way that is similar to the PS5 experience.”

A demo is being developed that will allow PC players to see how the game runs on their system before buying the full game. An exact date for this demo has not yet been announced but if it follows a similar timeline to the PS5 release, we can expect the demo a couple of weeks before the full release, and it should give access to the first couple of hours of the game.
