XDefiant has been delayed again, developers confirm

Following recent insider reports, the team behind XDefiant, Ubisoft's upcoming shooter, has confirmed that the game has unfortunately been delayed once again. Despite the game having a very promising showing in 2023, the game did not end up meeting its Q4 release target and now, the chances of the game releasing in ‘early 2024' are looking increasingly slim.

XDefiant was initially set to launch in October 2023 but was delayed indefinitely due to “inconsistencies in the game experience”. Even if the developer didn't share a new release date, Ubisoft's latest financial report stated the game would be released by the end of March 2024. As the end of the month approached, and there were no official announcements from the studio, fans predicted the FPS would get another delay.

To the sadness of many, that was precisely what happened. In an update, Ubisoft San Francisco revealed that further improvements need to be evaluated before the game can be released.

As part of the evaluation process, the development team plans to conduct a 12-hour server test session on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S to ascertain the server's capabilities under stress. Once the server test is completed, Ubisoft San Francisco plans to share a new launch date.
