League of Legends Worlds 2024 hits record high with 6.94M peak viewers

The League of Legends Worlds 2024 grand final etched its name in esports history, becoming the most-watched match to date. The culmination of Bilibili Gaming's best-of-five series against T1 drew an astonishing 6.94 million peak viewers, marking it as the second esports event to surpass the 6 million concurrent viewers' mark.

Fans were treated to a spectacular clash over the first four games, with reigning champions T1 demonstrating resilience as they fought back from behind twice to secure the final match. The legendary mid-laner Faker proved pivotal in keeping T1's hopes alive, successfully thwarting China's aspirations for its inaugural Worlds 2024 championship. In a 3-2 victory, T1 and Faker got their fifth world title, highlighting the team's dominance.

According to ESCharts, numerous records fell during this series. The English stream nearly reached 2 million peak viewers, surpassing the previous year's record by 8.4%. Meanwhile, Portuguese and French broadcasters set new viewing benchmarks during the tournament, further cementing the event's record-breaking status.

Other languages also celebrated significant milestones: Vietnamese esports surged to new heights with a 1.11 million peak CCU, making it the third Southeast Asian language to reach the million-viewer milestone, trailing behind Indonesian and Tagalog, and becoming the tenth globally. In addition, CHZZK (Korean video streaming service) made headlines by achieving a new esports record, amassing 297K peak viewers, eclipsing the previous record set during the LCK Spring 2024.

As the dust settles on this edition of the League of Legends World Championship, it's clear that the event has continued to redefine viewership expectations within the esports landscape.
