Ubisoft’s Rabbids are among the Australian wildlife in Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege is home to many Ubisoft references, as we can already see Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and The Division in the game. In a more obscure easter egg than usual, the developer has now placed the Rabbids invade the new Australian-based map, Outback.

The Rabbids are deranged bunny-like creatures that began their life as an enemy of Rayman, before strangely becoming one of Ubisoft’s most recognisable mascots. They’ve already raided the Mushroom Kingdom in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, but their inclusion in a game that’s styled realistically in comparison is sure to turn heads.

The critters can be found hidden in a log within the eastern corner of Outbreak, beyond the perimeter fence keeping players within the confines of the map. It lies in front of a yellow warning sign displaying various other Australian wildlife and a nearby road sign.

Reddit user MrManatee111 was the first to showcase the discovery, with the footage soon tweeted out by the official Rainbow Six Siege Twitter account. The tweet added the Rabbids’ famous “bwah” sound for comedic effect, something which isn’t present in Siege itself.

It does beg the question of how far the developers are willing to go with their crossovers. This doesn’t exactly break immersion, being as hidden as it is, but would Rayman weapon charms and Beyond Good and Evil skins be a step too far over the line?

KitGuru Says: Personally, with mechanics like Jackal’s tracking managing to live-ping someone, Finka’s global Nanobot Shot and a variety of other unrealistic gadgets, I feel as though the game wouldn’t suffer from more fun elements.
