The Walking Dead: The Final Season will conclude next week

Telltale’s The Walking Dead acted as a cornerstone for the developer since its initial 2012 launch, right up until the company sadly collapsed last year and employees were forced to scatter. IP creator Robert Kirkman saved the development of The Final Season with his studio Skybound Games, who are on track to complete Clementine’s journey next week.

Unlike Telltale’s previous efforts, The Walking Dead shifted much of its focus from puzzle elements onto story, character development and dialogue choice that influenced some minor outcomes, a format that the studio would become a little too reliant on with future endeavours. Instead of following the highly popular AMC television show at the time, the game was set to bring the comic book universe to life with mostly original characters and the occasional appearance from Kirkman’s creations.

The Final Season saw main character Clementine grow into a young woman and intended to definitively conclude the saga before trouble hit Telltale and the studio conducted mass layoffs. Skybound Games announced its plans to complete the series with the help of “many of the talented, passionate team members” who originally worked on it, launching the third episode on January 15, 2019.

The fourth and final episode dubbed “Take Us Back” will land on Tuesday March 26, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, ending seven years and five seasons worth of stories. The one-minute trailer for it is unsurprisingly sombre in tone, reinforcing the unlikelihood of a happy ending. Hopefully the conclusion proves to be worth the wait.

As previously stated, those that have already bought into the series on PC will receive it on the platform they originally purchased it for. Those that are interested in the soon-to-be-full experience will have to make their way over to the Epic Games Store to grab a copy.

KitGuru Says: It’s sweet to see that Clementine’s journey wasn’t cut short, and that fans will get a conclusion. What do you predict will happen in the final episode?
