Assassin’s Creed 3 replaced by remaster on uPlay and Steam

This week, the Assassin's Creed 3 remaster began rolling out as a standalone game, in addition to being part of the Assassin's Creed Odyssey season pass. This game makes a number of graphical changes to the game, some of which will divide opinion. If you wanted to pick up the original version of the game instead, then you may be out of luck, as it has been removed from sale on PC.

Assassin's Creed 3 has been delisted from uPlay and is no longer available on Steam, making the new remastered version your only option for buying the game. This also means that you'll need to pick up the more expensive version of the game going forward, whereas the original would regularly get quite cheap during sales.

The remastered version of Assassin's Creed 3 cleans a few things up, with higher resolution textures, much better foliage in outdoor sections, new lighting and new shadows, better anti-aliasing etc. It also adds free-aim archery, a better mini map and improved stealth mechanics.

For the most part, the remastered version does look better, although there are some areas where the change in art direction looks a bit off compared to the original.

KitGuru Says: Back in 2012 when Assassin's Creed 3 first came out, I went through a period of time with no internet, so I played the game to death on my Xbox 360. I'm not all that interested in getting the remaster just yet but I might keep my eye on it. Did many of you play Assassin's Creed 3 back in the day? Will you be revisiting it for the remaster?
