After a few years of leaks and various rumours, Google is set to sit down and talk about its gaming plans more at GDC this month. Ahead of the big event, Google has revealed that Jade Raymond has joined the team as a VP, after leaving EA Motive.
Jade Raymond is best known for her work on the Assassin's Creed franchise at Ubisoft. Raymond eventually left Ubisoft to head up EA's Motive studio, which was working on a Star Wars game.
I’m excited to finally be able to share that I have joined Google as VP!

Now, Raymond is a Vice President at Google, although mysteriously, which department she is the VP of has yet to be announced. This seems to indicate that Google will have its own gaming division going forward.
Google is currently rumoured to be launching its own games console, alongside Project Stream for cloud gaming. As part of the plan, Google has apparently secured partnerships with third-party publishers including Ubisoft and Sega.
We'll be hearing more about Google's gaming plans at GDC next week.
KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see what Google announces next week. It has been a while since there has been any competition to Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft in the console space.
