A new game in the Legend of Zelda series has been underway since 2017, when producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that the next instalment was in pre-production. It looks as though Xenoblade developer Monolith Soft is gearing up to begin working on the title now, explicitly hiring for the game.
The studio let out a tweet in Japanese, looking for technical artists, programmers, planners, designers and management support to join the team specifically to work on The Legend of Zelda. Monolith Soft is no stranger to the series despite its heavy ties to Xenoblade, having previously worked on Skyward Sword and doing a chunk of landscape design on Breath of the Wild.

The recruitment drive suggests that Monolith Soft will be heading up the development rather than assisting like it did with the previous entries, although this remains to be confirmed. Given that Nintendo is currently focusing on its Switch hardware during its third year, with heavy rumours of new iterations on the way, it is believed that the game will come out for the hybrid console, although this again remains to be confirmed.
KitGuru Says: Another Zelda on the Nintendo Switch would certainly be a treat, although we will have to see what’s happening as progress is made on its development. The nature of development on a Zelda game is often quite secretive anyway, so it could be some time before anything comes to light.
