Nintendo Switch was the highest selling console in March, The Division 2 was the best selling game

Anthem may not have launched to positive reception but it still went on to be BioWare's biggest game launch ever. Since then though, the game has been slipping in the charts. Beyond that, the latest stats for March video game sales show Ubisoft's The Division 2 earning the top spot, with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice coming in at number two.

The NPD group has finished tracking hardware and software sales for the games industry throughout March 2019. Overall, hardware sales did decline, although the Nintendo Switch managed to be the most resilient, beating out the PS4 and Xbox One last month. Year-on-year, console sales are down 15% compared to March 2018. Software sales saw a similar year-on-year dip, dropping by 11 percent.

  3. MLB 19: The Show.
  4. Devil May Cry 5.
  5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
  6. Red Dead Redemption 2.
  7. NBA 2K19.
  8. Grand Theft Auto V.
  9. Yoshi's Crafted World.
  10. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

This list is pretty accurate, although it does have a couple of pitfalls worth keeping in mind. For Nintendo's games, digital sales aren't included in the counting process. Meanwhile, PC digital sales aren't counted for COD, Battlefield, Anthem, The Division 2 or Sekiro.

KitGuru Says: March was a solid month for game releases, with DMC 5, Sekiro and The Division 2 all going on to be successful. What's your favourite game of 2019 so far?
