The release of Ninja Theory's long awaited next-gen exclusive, Hellblade 2, is just around the corner. Ahead of the game's release in May, the first previews have now gone live, painting a positive picture for the game, particularly on a technical level.
Ninja Theory has been utilising Unreal Engine 5, cutting-edge mocap for animations and combat, and a densely detailed map based on authentic landscapes from location shoots throughout Iceland. This level of visual realism does come at a price though. The game will not offer multiple graphics modes on console, so Xbox Series X/S players will get upscaling and 30FPS gameplay.
The PC version will have options available and the ability to play at frame rates beyond 30FPS. Still, despite the low frame rate, previews from sites like Polygon indicate that the game does look and feel good to play on Xbox. It is certainly better feedback than we were hearing about Redfall in the lead-up to that game's disappointing launch.
Hellblade 2 is officially launching on Xbox Series X/S and PC on the 21st of May. It will also be available to Game Pass subscribers on day-one.
