Over the weekend, it was claimed that the Xbox Games Showcase would be returning on the 9th of June and that the next Call of Duty would be shown at the event. Now, new sources are corroborating this, although Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War should be announced before the event.
According to Insider Gaming, previous reports that the Xbox Games Showcase will take place on the 9th of June and feature Call of Duty are accurate. However, their sources also claim that Activision is planning to formally announce the game before the Xbox showcase and the announcement won't necessarily be reserved to an event on Call of Duty: Warzone either.
In recent years, Activision has announced the next Call of Duty game in a live event running in Warzone, which attracts millions of players each year. Usually, as soon as the announcement is unlocked in Warzone, the official trailer goes live on YouTube for all to see.
This year for Black Ops Gulf War, the game will apparently be revealed prior to Summer Games Fest in June, so we'll get an initial announcement, followed by gameplay at the Xbox showcase. Then later in the Summer, we should get more news on multiplayer, Warzone plans and other modes. The game is expected to launch in October.

KitGuru Says: Even if Black Ops Gulf War isn't a big reveal for the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft still has exciting announcements to make. For instance, we've all been expecting to see the back catalogue of COD titles land on Game Pass – the showcase would be a perfect time to finally make that a reality.
