Halo: MCC will have cross-progression on PC and Xbox but cross-play not planned yet

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC this year, starting off with Halo Reach. We are still waiting for the first public beta tests to go live but in the meantime, 343 Industries has spoken a bit more on what features we can expect, including cross-platform capabilities between Xbox and PC.

Halo Reach was initially due to begin public testing in April but the team has opted to take a bit more time with it before giving us our first look at the game in action. When the games do finally start releasing though, we can expect cross-platform capabilities for those who like to play on Xbox and PC:

Brian Jarrard has been keeping the conversation alive with Halo fans since MCC was first announced for PC. Cross-platform has been up in the air based on earlier announcements but now it looks like the team is looking to make sure that progression, unlocks and player stats carry over between Xbox and PC. However, cross-platform play between Xbox and PC is not planned currently, likely due to the advantages that PC players would have in competitive modes.

Right now, the Master Chief Collection does not have a PC release date, but we do know that the games will be rolling out individually over time. Halo Reach will be the first to arrive and work on Halo: Combat Evolved has already begun in tandem with Reach. After that, Halo 2, 3, ODST and Halo 4 will follow. There are currently no announced plans for Halo 5 on PC but hopefully we'll hear more about that once work on the collection has wrapped up.

KitGuru Says: As someone who has already played a lot of Halo: MCC on Xbox One, I do hope that we'll be able to unlock the achievements again on PC. Are many of you looking forward to Halo on PC this year?
