Leo reacts to AMD Ryzen 3000 series launch and shares first impressions

Leo has his boots on the ground at Computex this week. We've already had a chance to talk a little bit about today's 3rd Gen Ryzen announcements but after a long busy day of presentations, Leo has had a chance to put his initial impressions and reactions to the news on camera for all to see.

As Leo notes, we had plenty of rumours surrounding Ryzen 9, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5. Previously there was talk of a 16-core Ryzen 9 chip but that rumour has not come to fruition at this point in time. Instead, the top-end Ryzen 9 processor is the 12C/24T 3900X. There might be some wiggle room left to fit another chip in and Leo reckons we will see that 16-core Ryzen some day, whether it ends up being called Ryzen 9 or not.

Either way,  though, what AMD has brought to the table so far looks to be a strong upgrade and another serious challenge to Intel. Beyond the CPUs themselves, the x570 chipset offers some serious upgrades, including support for higher DDR4 memory speeds, PCIe 4.0 and more.

Lots of great stuff on the Ryzen side, although the Navi part of the presentation was a tad dull. We will be getting more information on that front next month though, during AMD's E3 event. You can find specs and details for 3rd Gen Ryzen and the x570 chipset, HERE. You can find out more about what's next on the graphics side of AMD, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Lots of good news coming out of AMD today. Computex officially kicks off tomorrow, so we'll most definitely be seeing many x570 motherboards to coincide with this launch. What did you guys think of today's 3rd Gen Ryzen announcements?
