Thermaltake adopts Razer Green switches for its own gaming keyboard

A few years ago, Razer made the decision to leave Cherry MX behind and partner up with a mechanical switch manufacturer to produce its own switch designs. Nowadays, all Razer keyboards ship with variants of Razer’s mechanical switch, and now, third-party peripheral makers are getting involved too, with Thermaltake launching the Level 20 gaming keyboard with Razer Green switches.

The Thermaltake Level 20 RGB gaming keyboard offers many of the features you would expect from a premium keyboard. It has an aluminium top plate with floating key caps, RGB lighting for the keys and chassis, USB/audio passthrough and dedicated media controls in addition to Razer’s Green switches. For those who don’t know, a Razer Green switch is tactile and clicky, making it the equivalent of a Cherry MX Blue switch, albeit with faster actuation to make it better suited to gaming.

While Razer’s switches are being used, the RGB lighting is handled by TT RGB PLUS but Razer Chroma is also supported. At this point, Thermaltake has a robust RGB ecosystem in place, with RGB power supplies, liquid cooling gear, case fans, peripherals and more, in addition to partnerships with third parties, like Razer.

All TT RGB PLUS products work with Amazon’s Alexa, in addition to Thermaltake’s own voice control app, so if you really wanted to, you could use voice commands to have lighting change across all synced devices.

KitGuru Says: It looks like Razer’s mechanical switches are starting to spread beyond Razer’s own product line, which is nice to see. If you happen to be an RGB fanatic, then Thermaltake appears to be the way to go at the moment, as the TT RGB Plus ecosystem has been growing rapidly.
