Computex 2019: der8auer and 8Pack systems on show at Caseking

Stopping off at Caseking's booth on the show floor in Nangang, Leo was treated to a whole host of different products and hardware – from noblechairs to Kolink cases. What grabbed his eye most, though, were the custom loop systems on show from liquid cooling legends der8auer and 8Pack.

Getting right into the nitty-gritty, Roman ‘der8auer' Hartung himself was at the Caseking booth, and he took Leo through some of his new custom cooling hardware. This included the ‘Dynamic Pulse' liquid cooled system, built inside the Lian Li O11 Dynamic, which makes use of an innovative new monoblock. Der8auer calls this the ‘first true monoblock' as it is cools not only the CPU and VRM, but also the network chip, motherboard chipset, and up to two graphics cards – all on a single block. That means there's just two fittings – an inlet and outlet – for the whole cooling system, completely eliminating the need for any tubing or interconnects between those components.

We also saw a range of new fittings from der8auer, for both soft and hardline tubing. These are pretty cool in that they have anodised aluminium ‘accent rings', which work modularly – so you can add extra colours or accents to your fittings on a per-fitting basis, depending if you want that bit of extra pizzazz in your build.

Leo was also pretty taken with 8Pack's Hyper Vortex custom build, and particularly with the light box at the bottom of the case which provides a vast amount of illumination from the base of the chassis. The build also features a large distro plate at the front of case, and what Leo described as a ‘mini distro plate' above the CPU, connecting the CPU block to the VRM cooling.

On top of that, 8Pack is also getting into custom CPU block design, as we were shown a new block where the liquid contacts directly with the CPU heatspreader – and 8Pack suggests this will give a 5-8C temperature drop over other existing solutions. Due to the nature of this system, it won't be available to assemble yourself – you'll have to get it pre-assembled by Overclockers UK and 8pack – but you can bet that won't deter Leo!

KitGuru says: We all know Leo loves his liquid cooling, but it is safe to say der8auer and 8Pack really do take things to the next level.
