While Battlefield 2042 got off to a bad start, DICE managed to salvage things once again. After many updates and several post-launch seasons, fan sentiment around the game began to improve. However, it is now time to start looking towards the future, so Battlefield 2042 development will now begin winding down.
DICE has announced today that the current season for Battlefield 2042 will be its last. Season 7: Turning Point will be the final season for the game. The season kicked off in March but there is still plenty for players to look forward to before it comes to an end, including a revamped map based on the Stadium from Hourglass, new in-game events, and one new weapon and vehicle to unlock.
“While we’ve enjoyed and are proud of creating these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, it is now necessary for us to turn from the present to the future”, Battlefield GM, Byron Beede, wrote in a statement. “What this ultimately means is that Season 7 will serve as the final season for Battlefield 2042.”
While Season 7 will be a stopping point, development won't end completely. DICE says there will still be in-game challenges and events, as well as any other necessary updates for maintenance. However, the bulk of DICE's resources will now be going towards the next Battlefield game, which EA has been gearing up for over the past year.

KitGuru Says: I do hope that the next Battlefield game brings back a traditional campaign mode. With COD now moving towards ‘open world' campaign gameplay, we are going to need something to fill the gap.
