Computex 2019: New cases, coolers and power supplies at SilverStone (with special guest Steve Burke!)

Making his way through the Computex show floor at Nangang, today Leo stopped by SilverStone's booth. The company was showing off a variety of new cases, while there were also some new power supplies and a range of RGB liquid coolers.

Starting with the cases, the first new chassis Leo spotted was the Fara V1. This is a relatively conventional mid-tower case, though the front panel is made of a metal mesh which looks quite cool. On top of this, there are 3x RGB 120mm fans intaking behind this mesh panel, so we would expect airflow to be pretty good in the Fara V1. What's more, we were told it will be priced around £80, which sounds very reasonable based on our first impressions of this chassis.

We also the SG14 Mini-ITX case, which looks like it would be perfect for a living room HTPC. Leo initially though there was an accent plate on the front, just to add some visual interest, but this is actually magnetic – so it pops off and reveals the ODD bay, while you can also slide it down. Keeping with the small form-factor theme, Leo also saw the RL09 micro-ATX case. This again looks like the airflow should be pretty good, with a meshed front panel and another 3x RGB fans intaking air, while pricing is also expected around the £80 mark.

Another Mini-ITX chassis was also on show – the LD03. This has three smoked glass panels, giving it a very stealthy look, but it was also interesting to see that the demo case was being shown with a Bitspower pump/reservoir for liquid cooling, and we were told this may go into production as bundle with the LD03. The case is expected to cost around £100.

The last case we saw was the flagship Alta S1 E-ATX chassis. This is absolutely huge, measuring 750mm tall and 615mm deep, and the motherboard tray has been rotated 90 degrees so the graphics cards sit vertically. There's also three 200mm fans at the bottom of the case intaking air, while an eye-catching RGB PSU cover sits towards the back of the case. It's also very heavy, as we were told the case alone weighs about 15kg. Expect pricing around £300.

SilverStone also had a wide variety of power supplies across different form factors, including the SFX-L SK1000-LPT – a fully modular 1000W Platinum unit, while there was also the SFX SX750-PT 750W Platinum model on show as well. If you want something bigger, Leo saw a 1550W ATX PSU, the DA1550-TI, which is rated for Titanium efficiency levels. This sat alongside the DA2000-PT, a 2000W Platinum-certified monster.

Lastly, we also got a look at SilverStone range of PermaFrost AIO liquid coolers. These use SilverStone's own pump technology – so there's no infringement on Asetek's pump patent – and were on show in 120/240/360mm sizes, with both RGB fans and a RGB pump/CPU block.

KitGuru says: SilverStone's Alta S1 may well have been the most eye-catching product on show, but I quite like the look of the LD03 as well – how many of you are going for small form-factor builds these days?
