Ever since last year's gameplay reveal, we've all been eager to see more of Cyberpunk 2077. That moment arrived last night, with a brand new cinematic trailer being shown live on Microsoft's E3 stage. Then, just when we thought it was over, Keanu Reeves appeared out of nowhere and announced the game's release date.
The new trailer Doesn't show much gameplay, although there are brief montage snippets. Instead, this trailer is a story teaser, with our main character ‘V' going out on a job that ends badly. Then at the end, we have Keanu Reeves waking V up, letting him know that “we have a city to burn”. So we can look forward to a revenge quest with John Wick, which is a strong sell for a game that was already high on the anticipation list.
Prior to E3, there were rumours that CD Projekt Red intended to announce a 2019 release date with a planned delay into 2020. Fortunately, that did not turn out to be the case. Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing on the 16th of April 2020, which is still a lot sooner than many of us expected. It also lands closely to the five year anniversary of The Witcher 3.
KitGuru Says: Seeing Keanu walk out on stage last night was an E3 highlight. Usually celebrity cameos at E3 conferences go badly but this time, it all worked out quite well. We should see more gameplay for Cyberpunk later this week, so there is still more to look forward to.
