Intel confirms 5GHz Core i9-9900KS and Cascade Lake X for October

To kick off this year's IFA in Berlin, Intel held its third Real World Performance event, which brought us some interesting news. Not only is the Core i9-9900KS coming soon, but there was also confirmation of Cascade Lake X coming very soon.

The Core i9-9900KS is a special edition version of the eight-core chip. The thing that makes this one stand out is that the KS versions have been cherry picked to overclock to 5GHz across all eight cores. This will be launching in October, although pricing is still to be confirmed.

On the HEDT front, Intel is also planning to launch Cascade Lake X next month too. This will replace Skylake X and according to Intel, we should also see a 1.74x to 2.09x performance boost compared to the previous gen.

Unfortunately, Intel wouldn't say much more than that, so we'll be waiting a bit longer to hear full details on Cascade Lake X specs and pricing.

KitGuru Says: October is shaping up to be a big month for Intel. Are any of you currently waiting on new CPUs before upgrading?
