Final Fantasy VII Remake gameplay showcased at TGS

Square Enix finally began giving us real details on Final Fantasy VII Remake at E3 earlier this year. We have a release date, we know a lot more about the gameplay changes and we even know a little bit more about the ‘episodic' release. Now this week during the Tokyo Game Show, we've been treated to some full gameplay footage, showing off the game's first boss fight.

At TGS last night, Sony allowed 15 minutes of gameplay demo capture, which has been uploaded to YouTube for all of us to check out. PlayStation UK's PlayStation Access channel also offers some commentary, explaining the mechanics and how combat works in the remake:

Final Fantasy VII Remake is due to launch first on PS4 on the 3rd of March 2020. This will be an on-going series, with part one focusing on Midgar and greatly expanding the city, character backstories and other elements.

Unfortunately, we have no idea when part two might show up, or how much of the rest of the journey it will cover. With that said, we will hopefully start getting details on that later next year after part one launches.

KitGuru Says: Final Fantasy VII Remake is looking great to me, but I know there are a bunch of fans of the classic series who don't like the transition to an action combat system. What do you think of Final Fantasy VII Remake so far? Will you be picking it up next year?
