EA is in the Guinness World Record book for most downvoted comment on Reddit

Back when EA released Star Wars Battlefront II, the publisher had a lot of community management to do, as complaints were flooding in all over the place, with many of them taking aim at microtransactions. It was around this time when EA's infamous “pride and accomplishment” comment was made– which has now been cemented in the Guinness World Record book as the most downvoted comment in Reddit history.

Two years on from the launch of Battlefront II, The Guinness World Record book for 2020 has been updated, awarding EA with the world record for most-downvoted comment on Reddit. At this point in time, the comment has over 683,000 downvotes and no other comment even comes close to challenging that, with second place accumulating just under 89,000 downvotes.

As a reminder, here is what the comment said: “The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes. As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay. We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets. Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.”

It is safe to say that getting that particular comment into the Guinness World Record book has supplied us with a better sense of pride and accomplishment than playing Battlefront II ever could.

KitGuru Says: I'm not sure we'll ever see another comment top that number of downvotes, especially when you take a look at the full list of most hated comments.
