Borderlands 3 is due out in just a couple of weeks. At this point, we've seen tons of gameplay and learned a lot about the new mechanics/loot systems implemented to bring Borderlands back to the forefront of co-op gaming. Now with the release date just on the horizon, it is time to dive into the PC-specific features and minimum/recommended hardware specifications.
Borderlands 3 is an AMD-optimised title, as a result, the game will include support for Asynchronous Compute, AMD FidelityFX and some CPU-specific optimisations to take advantage of Ryzen's multithreading capabilities.
Asynchronous Compute will allow Radeon GPUs to execute multiple tasks at the same time, speeding up GPU performance and distributing the workload more efficiently. AMD FidelityFX is a dynamic sharpening filter that will boost detail in low-contrast areas of a frame and remove some of the softening caused by other post-processing effects.
Now on to the system requirements. The minimum spec for Borderlands 3 is aimed at 1080p resolution:
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (latest service pack)
- Processor: AMD FX-8350 or Intel Core i5-3570
- Memory: 6GB RAM
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7970 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB.
- HDD: 75 GB
The recommended system requirements target 1440p resolution:
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (latest service pack)
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i7-4770
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 590 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
- HDD: 75 GB
