Crash Bandicoot 4 reportedly sold over 5 million copies

Crash Bandicoot is one of the most iconic classic gaming mascots, with the marsupial having his heyday during the PS1 era. Following years of substandard entries, Crash was revived with the N’Sane Trilogy – a remake of the first 3 titles. Crash 4 then released, being a wholly new and original sequel. While critical reception was positive, we did not have any sales data for the game…until now.

As reported by industry analyst Timur222, Toys for Bob Design Director ‘Toby Schadt’ revealed via their LinkedIn page that the 2020 title sold a good few copies, describing it as a “well-received sequel to Naughty Dog’s classic Crash Bandicoot trilogy. Over 5mm sold.”

Until now, we had no sales figures for the game whatsoever, with the only evidence of its success being the game’s chart rankings – landing at no.1 during its launch period.

Despite being a sequel released 22 years after the last entry, Crash 4 managed to successfully prove that mascot platformers still have a place in today’s gaming landscape. Hopefully a new Crash game is in the works.
