The team at Hangar 13 has been working on a new Mafia game for a couple of years at this point. The next game in the long-running series is now expected to be announced later this year, and it will be built on Unreal Engine 5.
We already knew from various job listings at Hangar 13 that the studio was planning a new Mafia title, using Unreal Engine 5 to take advantage of the latest graphical and performance technologies. Now, according to games researcher, Kurakasis, who has previously accurately revealed information on upcoming games, Mafia 4 will be announced later this year.
Take-Two has apparently begun preparing for the announcement, with plans to unveil the new game very soon. Given that Summer Games Fest is just around the corner, this does not sound like much of a stretch.
We've known about Mafia 4 since 2022, but we do not know how long the game was in development before then. With that in mind, I would be sceptical on a 2024 release date, but pushing it to 2025 could be a disaster, as the next Grand Theft Auto game will be coming out. Given that both series share similar concepts, Mafia 4 could be a tough sell if it has to compete with GTA for sales.

KitGuru Says: I didn't like Mafia 3 much, but I did enjoy the older games. I'm hoping Mafia 4 can be a return to form for the series. Will you be looking to pick up Mafia 4 when it comes out?
