Fallout 76 hits all-time high player counts on Steam

Unless you've been living under a rock this past weekend, you've likely heard about how well the Fallout TV show is doing. After glowing reviews for the series' opening episode, fans have been quick to praise the rest of the first season. As a result of this uptick in Fallout fandom, the games are also doing equally well. Fallout 76 in particular is seeing a nice jump, setting a new peak concurrent player count on PC.

Fallout 76 has set a new peak concurrent player count of 39,455 players, with over 22,000 players online right now at the time of publishing. This is a 209.8% gain in average player counts over the last 30 days, compared to the previous month.

When Fallout 76 launched, it did not meet fan expectations. However, after bringing interactive NPCs and settlements to the game, players began to slowly migrate back to the game and it has managed to hold a steady player base ever since. At this point, the game has years of expansion content behind it, all of which was delivered to players for free.

On Steam, the game's recent reviews are ranked as Mostly Positive, which is a good sign. Perhaps this will be the start of a resurgence for Bethesda's struggling multiplayer game. The game is currently on sale for £6.99 on Steam, as well as console platforms.
