Windows 10 19H2 build is likely to be released this week offering a performance boost

By all accounts, Windows 10 will be taking another step forward with its second feature update of 2019 potentially being released this week. However, this update is reported to be minor compared to previous releases.

The latest Windows 10 feature update dubbed 19H2 (version 1909) will be shipping to participants in the Windows Insider Programme on the release preview ring, having appeared on the Windows Server Update Services server.

This update will provide improvements and fixes from the KB4515384 package, along with general improvements and quality that comes with the 19H2 update. Microsoft also announced recently that Windows Insider Program for business Customers can now request Microsoft Support for Windows 10 version 1909 (19H2) builds in the release preview and slow rings.

Since Microsoft has added Windows 10 19H2 to the update server, this could mean it is likely to be the final release candidate RTM build, with plenty of noise being made online that it is ready to go. Microsoft is also due a big press event on 2nd October where they are expected to announce new Surface devices, it could be likely that Microsoft might show off the new Windows 19H2 Build at the event, in time for a release later in the week.

Although the update is said to be minor compared to the May release, there are some interesting additions, including the promise of better battery life for laptops running certain CPUs. A potential boost in performance for CPUs having ‘favoured’ cores, with workloads being distributed better between these cores is also included. Along with that, Microsoft is introducing integration of digital assistants, such as Amazon Alexa which will be available direct from the Windows 10 lock screen.

No official word has been given from Microsoft on the actual release date, so at the moment this is just a rumour. We will keep readers updated when a solid date is announced.
