First three Dragon Quest games are coming to Nintendo Switch this month

Dragon Quest is one of the most influential JRPG franchises of all time, paving the way and serving as inspiration for many Japanese RPGs for years to come. Now, we’ll have an opportunity to go back to where it all started, as the first three Dragon Quest games are being re-released on Nintendo Switch this month alongside Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition.

Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line and Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation all launched between 1986 and 1988. These titles have been released in the west before, although the name was changed to ‘Dragon Warrior’ in some markets, with the U.S being the biggest example.

All three games will hit the eShop on the 27th of September alongside Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition. The games will be fairly cheap too, with Dragon Quest going for $4.99, Dragon Quest II going for $6.49 and Dragon Quest III being a bit more expensive at $12.49.

Between classic re-releases, spin-offs like Dragon Quest Builders and the success of Dragon Quest XI, it would seem that the series is making a rather big comeback and will be continuing for years to come.
