New AMD Navi GPU listed by HP

This has been quite the week for PC hardware leaks. We’ve been hearing a lot about Threadripper, Intel 10th Gen, Cascade Lake-X and various motherboards but now, we are also getting early news of upcoming graphics cards. Specifically, new GPUs based on AMD’s Navi architecture.

Over the weekend, we began seeing evidence for new Navi based graphics cards thanks to datamining driver updates. Notably, references to Navi 12 and Navi 14 were found, which are new GPUs as the RX 5700 series is based on Navi 10. Speculation pins these as the ‘high-end’ versions of Navi that Lisa Su previously confirmed to be in development. However, we now have some evidence of a lower-end Navi graphics card coming to market instead.

As spotted by German site, ComputerBase, HP’s website and a few retailers were updated with listings for new tower desktops featuring the RX 5300 XT, which has not been announced at this point in time. According to HP’s available documentation, this sport 4GB of GDDR5 memory too, making it one of the entry-level graphics cards.

Occasionally, hardware makers will make OEM-only products that are supposed to be sold in pre-built systems and not individually. With that in mind, we don’t know if the RX 5300 XT will be more widely available on the market for DIY PC builders. However, it is also worth noting that HP’s desktops were listed as being available in October and there is some evidence to indicate that AMD will have a new GPU around then.

KitGuru Says: AMD’s RX 5700 series has a great price to performance ratio, so it will be interesting to see how that scales, whether it is for higher or lower-end cards. Are any of you currently looking for a GPU upgrade?
