AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU stock remains low with retailers hiking up pre-order prices

With Ryzen 3900X CPUs appearing to be extremely thin on the ground recently, retailers who have stock are hiking prices up daily. With both UK and US markets showing price increases, it may not be good news for potential buyers.

AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X CPU remains very difficult to get your hands on at the moment. Those looking to purchase one soon may find they are having to cough up considerably more than the manufacturer's recommended launch price. Not only that, there are very few retailers offing any availability at all.

On initial launch, the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU was around £480 here in the UK. However, due to the age-old issue of supply and demand, we are seeing retailers bumping up the price in excess of £500 and over £700 in some places.

If you want to buy a Ryzen 9 3900X today in the UK you will find it extremely difficult to get your hands on one, with all the traditional online retailers showing little or no stock at all. Even AMD's store tells you they are out of stock if you add one to your shopping basket. Many sites are offering pre-order options, but with price increases well over MSRP.

Currently, both Scan and Ebuyer are offering pre-orders at a cost of £531.97 with shipping on top. Scan says stock is due tomorrow while Ebuyer are showing stock expected Friday 4th October. OCUK will allow customers to pre-order for £559.99 but with no firm date of when stock will arrive, customers will be allocated the product on a first-come-first-served basis.

We did manage to find AWD-IT have one in stock available for £599.94 plus shipping, which was considerably cheaper than Amazon who are showing 10 in stock but with a massive price hike. To purchase directly from Amazon today you will be looking at spending £783.23 with Prime delivery included! A quick search on eBay this morning showed up nothing.

With recent rumours that TSMC is struggling to meet demand for 7nm processors, we can only hope that further price increases aren't on the way due to low supply.

KitGuru says: With no news on when stock levels will recover, the only advice we can offer at the moment is hang on until prices return to normal if you can. However, for those who are unable to wait, make sure you look around before hitting the add to basket button.
