Xiaomi reveals a 34-inch curved gaming monitor

Xiaomi is a Chinese manufacturer normally known for its smartphone devices. The company has now officially entered the gaming monitor market with a 34-inch display offering a host of premium features.

Two new displays were officially announced in China and in typical Xiaomi style will offer excellent bang for buck. The new displays will come in two sizes, featuring a 34-inch UltraWide version and a Full HD LED 24-inch regular widescreen model.

A 34-inch UltraWide version will be part of the Xiaomi Mi Surface Display line and will offer an aspect ratio of 21:9 with a 3440×1440 (WQHD) resolution and 1500R curvature. Additionally, the Mi Surface Display will offer users of AMD graphics, tear-free low input lag gaming, with integrated FreeSync support and a refresh rate of 144Hz with a 4ms (GtG) pixel response time.

In terms of picture quality, the Xiaomi Mi Surface Display offers to cover 121% of the sRGB colour gamut from its panel. A stand, which is magnetically attached to the display, features height adjustment and allows the display to be rotated. The Mi Surface Display will offer exceptional value when compared to other mainstream brands with similar features.

Along with the Mi Surface Display, Xiaomi is releasing a traditional 16:9 widescreen monitor measuring 23.8-inches. The Mi Display will feature a Full HD LED panel and up to 178-degrees viewing angle. The display has extremely thin bezels and an integrated stand. However, on the Mi Display, the stand isn’t adjustable.

Both displays will be available in China from 21st October. The 34-inch Mi Surface Display will cost ¥2,499 (approx £270) after launch but can be pre-ordered for a discounted price of ¥1,999 according to AnandTech. The 24-inch Mi Display will cost ¥699 (approx £76)

KitGuru says: At those prices who would not want to buy one. It will be interesting to see if they ever land in the UK and if the pricing follows conversion rates. I have a feeling we will be paying more over here in the UK.
