While we are still waiting for high refresh rate 4K displays to become more common in the desktop monitor market, laptop makers are beginning to push the technology. This week, Razer announced that the Blade Pro 17 will soon be available with a 4K UHD screen and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The top-spec Razer Blade Pro 17 comes with an Intel Core i7-9750H processor and a Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU along with a 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM. Now, joining all that high-end hardware is a 4K UHD touch display with slim bezels, 100% coverage of the Adobe RGB space, custom colour calibration and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Running triple A games at 4K/120Hz will be a bit of a challenge for an RTX 2080 laptop, but you would get great use of that refresh rate in competitive esports titles, like CS:GO, Dota 2, Overwatch etc.
Of course, this sort of tech does not come cheap. Pricing is currently listed at $3,699.99 USD or €3,999.99. Availability is limited at the moment too, with the 4K/120Hz option launching in the USA and China this month and coming to the UK and Germany at some point in Q4.
KitGuru Says: Earlier this year, we saw several RTX Studio laptops announced with high refresh rate 4K displays, now traditional gaming laptops are also starting to make the jump. I’m not sure I would opt for 4K/120Hz over an easier to run 1080p resolution but there will be some folks with deep pockets that won’t mind.
