ALDI UK is selling a gaming PC with RTX 2060 graphics

Here in the UK, we typically associate ALDI with bargain fruit and veg, not gaming PCs – but that may be about to change, as ALDI is now selling a Medion system, and it looks like a decent gaming desktop.

The German grocery chain, ALDI, has started to sell this gaming PC through its website, with currently one configuration available for £949.99. ALDI describes it as ‘a powerful desktop PC specially designed around the serious gamer.'

This PC is built by Medion, the consumer electronics company from Germany and owned by Lenovo, and from the looks of it and the components specifications, it's very similar to the Medion Erazer X67218.

The specifications are as follows:

  • Intel® Core™ i5-9400 Processor
  • 2.9 GHz, up to 4.1 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0
  • 6 Cores and 9 MB Intel® Smart Cache
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 Graphics
  • With 6,144 MB GDDR6 VRAM
  • 1,024 GB PCIe SSD
  • 16 GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • Multi-Standard DVD-/CD-ReWriter
  • Hot-Swap HDD Frame1
  • Fast Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 ac-Standard-Technology with up to 1,73 Gbps (2×2)
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Network Controller Gigabit LAN (10/100/1000 Mbit/s)
  • Windows 10
  • Dimensions: 17x42x39,5cm (approx.)

Without having used this system, it certainly looks like a decent bit of kit for the money – that's a hexacore CPU with RTX 2060 graphics, so you'd expect very solid frame rates at 1080p, and even some 1440p gaming too. Maybe ALDI could be the next big thing in PC gaming… or not!

KitGuru says: With these specifications and price, this is a good first PC for most people if you don't want to build one yourself. Would you recommend this PC to someone? Would you buy it yourself?
