Final specification of Nvidia GTX 1660 Super revealed

After bucketloads of rumours and leaks regarding Nvidia GTX 1660 Super graphics cards over the past few weeks, it looks like we finally have confirmation of specifications, even though we probably knew most of them already.

Last week, we reported on some Nvidia GTX 1660 Super leaks from various manufacturers, including a custom card from Maxsun.  A reliable source on Twitter, momomo_us, has now revealed that the card in question is listed on a Chinese retail site which shows the full specification. While Maxsun may not be the most common GPU manufacturer over here in the UK, it certainly gives a good idea of what to expect from other, more familiar versions when they become available.

The specifications may not come as a huge surprise to some, especially if you have been following Nvidia GTX 1660 Super rumours and leaks over the last couple weeks. However, this does feel a little more official than what we have previously seen, especially when you realise this is a genuine retail outlet listing the card for sale when stock arrives.

As you may have noticed before, the specification of the Maxsun GTX 1660 Super Terminator 6G is based on Nvidia Turing architecture, featuring 1408 CUDA cores and 6 GB GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit BUS interface. These specs should offer a boost in performance over the current Nvidia GTX 1660 and if the pricing structure is similar to when Nvidia refreshed the RTX line with Super versions, the Nvidia GTX 1660 Super should come in around the same price as the standard GTX 1660.

According to the Maxsun GTX 1660 Super listing, core clock frequency is as rumours suggested, with a base speed of 1400MHz and boost frequency between 1530-1785MHz. Those core frequencies paired with GDDR6 memory should provide decent performance in gaming at the expected budget price.

Along with the specifications, there is also a 3DMark Firestrike Extreme benchmark of the Maxsun GTX 1660 Super, which clocks up a graphics score of 6578. Based in this info the GTX 1660 Super should offer around 95% of the current Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti's performance and is approximately 6-8% faster than the Nvidia GTX 1660 according to wccftech. The retail listing states the item is due to launch on 28^th October, which means an official announcement from Nvidia may arrive soon.

KitGuru says: If Nvidia choose to market the GTX 1660 Super at a similar price to the GTX 1660, it could offer a reasonable price/performance increase on the current model, We will just have to wait and see.
